This videocast was originally captured during the Specialist Accreditation Conference 2022 - Criminal Law stream. Through a case study, you will be taken through legislation relevant to proceedings in the Children's Court and will gain a deeper understanding of how these provisions are applied. The legislation examined includes; Crimes Act 1900, Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, Young Offenders Act 1997, Children (Criminal Proceedings) Act 1987 (NSW), Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilities) Act 2002 and Children (Detention Centres) Act 1987 (NSW). Judge Skinner also considers the issues of Doli Incapax, bail, sentencing and parole for young offenders.
